herchuckness: dates for trips

Wow, so many posts after just one day! Awesome. :D

Looks like there are two trips in the works right now, one for this December and another for the summer of 2007. If you can't make the first, try for the second! XD The tenative info for these trips is as follows:

2006 Winter Comiket
dates: December 23rd - January 2nd, 2007
organizer: ayonoi
tags: 2006 winter comiket trip

2007 Summer Comiket
dates: summer 2007 (dates forthcoming)
organizer: kayuuko (hope this is ok, kayuuko! XD)
tags: 2007 summer comiket trip

As you can see, there are tags for each trip - entries with information specific to just one trip should be tagged that way, to make sorting through the post a little easier. I'll be adding more general tags as we go, since I can't figure out how to let users set their own. ^^; This info has been put into the community userinfo as well.

Dates are not final for either trip yet! In fact, we should discuss the winter trip dates here in the comments. (I suggest we wait a little on discussing the summer 2007 trip dates, since we don't know exactly when that Comiket happens yet. XD) Winter Comiket itself, for those interested in attending, is generally three consecutive days between the 28th and 31st of December. At least one of us should be there a week beforehand to pick up catalogues for the event, but those who can't miss the Christmas holidays could show up later if necessary. I'm willing to work up a calendar of who can go when to assist people getting together for shorter or longer trips - just let me know which dates work for each of you. ^^

I think it will be good if we can think about how long to stay. The 22nd to the 1st is feasible for me, I did that length of time in 2004 (actually that was Dec. 24th to Jan 1st) and I like the Oak Hotel. So far, those are my choices XD. People should speak up XD

Late December to early January is the best time to take vacation at my work, it's the slowest time of the year (excepting the day before Christmas). Depending on expenses, I can probably stay for 10-15 days. ^^

Maybe we can leave on December 23rd? When do you want to come back? Leaving on the weekend makes it more expensive, just to let you know. The 23rd is a Saturday and the 24th is a Sunday.
My last day of work is probab;y Friday the 22nd and I can always leave that day to arrive on the 23rd in Japan. We can come back on January 2nd (that is 10 days). If we buy our tickets well in advance, I don't think it is going to be a problem. I can probe IACE around August or September to see what they have available re: flights or just keep an eye on their offers.

Let me check the Oak availability, I am not sure if they had space after the 31st and if they don't, we are going to need a second place to stay. I will check into this later.

Totally okay that you made me the organizer ^_~ I already started to search for a youth hostel until ayonoi posted the info about the Oak Hotel and I so think I will book this one now XD. It even has internet! XD So I can keep my friendslist up-to-date when I am there *laughs*

Heheh, internet is always a plus. XD I wish I had a mobile device to connect to it, I'll have to wait till I get back in order to fangirl over the trip. XD Looks like we'll probably be staying there too, we'll have to give you all the details on the place once we get back. ^__^

twincast: don't want to open a new post and this seems to be the best one to reply to

I know that according to the userinfo this is the actual purpose of the group, but I can't help but feel kinda silly since I barely know a third of the people here and the others not at all - with barely overlapping major fandoms to boot, also I guess I'd be the only guy so far. I blame me staying up till 4am for even writing here. I'd be too shy normally. ^^"

so yeah, if all goes well (oh PLEASE let me get that scholarship! ;_;) I'll spend a year in Japan starting late September and I've wanted to go to Comiket ever since I heard of it for the first time oh so many years ago. and I wouldn't mind some "group protection" for the naughty stuff... um, yeah.

I guess what I want to say is: sign me up as tentative, would'cha?

Aw, I'm glad you overcame your shyness enough to post this. ^^ Would you want to go to the winter or summer comiket? If you're living there I guess you could go to both! XD I will put you down on the list as a maybe, I hope you can make it. Good luck with the scholarship!
